15 Things That Happen When You Turn 50 Years Old

Our body is similar to some amazing mechanism. It constantly works taking care of our health, controlling out temperature, breathing, blood pressure and protecting us from diseases. It works even while we are sleeping. So, it is not surprising that, over time, we can get some changes in our body.

Our body gradually starts working in another way with the process of aging. Women experience some changes in their health. Unfortunately very often they don’t know what is going on and think that it can be some serious disease. However, everything is natural, so you shouldn’t be afraid.

These changes happen not only to your health. Your outlook on life, habits and even temper can completely become completely different. Today we have some necessary information, which you should know. Here is a list of 15 things which happen to your body and habits when you turn 50.

#1. Alcohol

With the process of aging your body gets another reaction to alcohol. There are both advantages and disadvantages. For example, moderate consumption of alcohol, like a glass of wine per day, can be useful for your body. It can reduce the risk of diabetes and heart diseases and normalize blood pressure.

But if you are the postmenopausal women and you consume too much alcohol your cancer risks will be increased. Alcohol can also cause vision problems. Drinking more than 1 glass of wine daily you are 3 times more likely to have gum disease.

#2. The condition of your skin

Your skin changes completely. It becomes thin and looks unattractive. This happens because of the lack of estrogen in your body, which occurs because of the aging process. Of course, there are ways to slow down this process and you can tighten skin on your face, so you shouldn’t get upset.

#3. Bad memory

If you tend to forget why you have come to this room or why you have opened the fridge, then you shouldn’t worry too much. It happens because our short-term memory doesn’t work as it used to. It’s completely naturally, so you shouldn’t be afraid.

#4. Hair

Of course we know that your hair condition will become a bit worse. But now we are talking not about the hair on your head. Little hairs can appear on your chin. To get rid of them you can visit your cosmetologist or do it yourself using tweezers.

#5. Loss of hearing

Yes, your hearing will become worse. To hear another person you should be in a rather quiet place because all that noise doesn’t let you make out what they are saying you. But there are also good news- red wine can help to preserve your hearing.

#6. You think that your digestive system is an interesting topic of conversation

Have you noticed that you are talking about your digestive system from time to time? Do your really think that it’s a great topic for the conversation? Yep, it’s not. But again, it’s normal, so you shouldn’t be upset.

#7. Changes in sex

Some people say that it becomes worse. That can happen because of the lack of estrogen in your body. Others claim that it becomes better, and that happens because of the decreased levels of estrogen relative to testosterone in your body. So, the changes will be for sure but you can’t predict how you’ll feel them.

#8. Weight

Very often women gain weight because of the menopause. And when they turn 50 it becomes much more difficult for them to lose excess pounds. But it becomes easier to gain weight even more. So, you should keep healthy eating and perform physical exercises regularly to keep your body healthy and slim.

#9. Celebrity magazines are filled with pretty strangers

Probably all women like celebrity magazines. There we can find some interesting facts and details about our favorite actors and singers. But when you turn 50, more and more people from the pages of your favorite magazine are unknown for you. And that’s OK, because new famous people appear every day and you just can’t know all of them.

#10. You really don’t care that no one likes the things you collect

Very often people are ashamed of their hobbies and the things they collect. But with age you don’t care what other people will think. People, who have experienced some difficulties, like serious diseases and even surgery become much more confident, are not afraid to do what they want and don’t care what others will say. So, you can safely collect teddy bears, cactuses and stuff like that and it’s great.

#11. Another outlook on life

When we are young we tend to complain about different things, which are actually not so important. But when we get older we stop paying attention to those little things so much and just value every good day we have.

#12. Poor eyesight

Well, that happens to everyone. With age our sight becomes worse and worse. We can’t see small stuff and read books with small print. But that’s not a reason to be upset. You can’t change the natural process, so just buy glasses in a beautiful frame and relax.

#13. Parents

We all are children until our parents are alive. And this is a really bad side of your age- probably your parents are gone and you are not anyone’s child anymore. Unfortunately this waits for everyone and we can do nothing.

#14. Children

Here is some good news. If about 15 years ago you had some problems with your kids, who seemed to hate your, then now these issues are gone. Your children are adult enough to love and value you.

#15. Dancing

Well, you should know that young people don’t like to see you dancing. Never. At all. But since (as it’s mentioned above) you don’t care what other people will think you can still dance.
